Goodbye 2013, Hello 2014!

I have been terrible at keeping up with the blog part of my business, and for that I apologize. With another little one on the way in March I doubt it’ll get much better ๐Ÿ˜‰ HOWEVER! I wanted to write a post thanking all of my amazing clients for my most successful year to date – you guys make me so, so happy ๐Ÿ™‚

2013 brought my first Wedding as Lead Shooter and it was a blast (and very much a learning experience, so big big props to Emily & Mike for trusting me with your memories!). It also brought my first ever Newborn TWINS session, for a family friend, and I absolutely loved every minute of it.

I had the great pleasure of shooting my sister’s Engagement photos as well, and I think they came out so well – I love her & my soon to be brother in law so much for asking me to photograph them!

I had the honor or witnessing and recording so many sweet, genuine, loving, fun moments in the lives of my clients and for that I am truly, truly grateful.

I have a couple of sessions lined up for January, and then I’ll be on Maternity ‘Hiatus’ for a couple of months to enjoy the new little one & our growing family – you can count on me being back & better than ever in the late Spring & early Summer! I hope you all have a fabulous New Year โค

…And I’m back!

Im back! Sorry for the absence – I’ve been gearing up for a very busy, very fun, June! First, I wanted to share a few photos from a session I did with the Sutton family right before I left for vacation to New Orleans. The weather did NOT cooperate, but that’s okay because we had fun with it anyway. I got to playing around with a photostrip action using a couple silly shots and ending with the final family shot.

The next couple photos are the “kids” (teenagers and adults, really) and the shot of the three sisters together ๐Ÿ™‚ I LOVED the coordinating leopard print accessories, such a fabulous idea!

So the day after this shoot we flew to New Orleans, it was a hectic couple of days! Thankfully vacation was SO fun that the flights with a toddler didn’t seem so bad ๐Ÿ˜‰ Here are a few photos from some of our New Orleans adventures.

Finished our last beautiful afternoon with an Abita at The Bulldog Bar in Uptown – highly highly recommend this place. Great food, fantastic atmosphere and obviously an awesome beer selection!

What do you think of the photostrip, yea or nay? Would you like to receive something like that from a session?

Springing into…Spring

Technically my favorite season is Fall, but I have to give Spring props for being pretty awesome too. When Spring arrives and it gets warmer, the snow stops falling and the Farmer’s Market starts back up it makes me want to run outside and kiss the ground. That sounds extreme but the sunshine makes me energetic and giddy like only it can after monthssssss of crappy, cold weather. Not to mention a very antsy toddler who is literally bouncing off the walls from being stuck inside too often ๐Ÿ˜‰

To celebrate the upcoming change in seasons I’m running a giveaway that is pretty sweet. 1 Free Newborn Session and 1 Free Mini Family Session. Details and restrictions are listed on the rafflecopter widget on my Facebook Page (link below). I’ll also include some of my past Spring photos below. Enjoy & Good Luck! ย (Giveaway Link)

It’s Almost Time For…

Senior Photos! I get pretty excited about Spring and Summer for a lot of reasons, but I really enjoy Senior Sessions. I’ve had the great good luck to have worked with some awesome High School Seniors, and I can’t wait to get out again this year to document such an exciting time in their lives. You’re only young once and capturing all the fun things about that age is just a perk for me ๐Ÿ™‚

Here are some samples of photos I’ve taken in the past:

Nawlins & 2 Recipes

It’s no secret that I am in love with New Orleans. I may not originally be from there, or live there now, but boy do I love that city. Since my little family is headed back that way in a few weeks, I thought I’d do a post about my favorite things in ‘The Big Easy’. Which happens to be the latest phrase I’ve been teaching my 17 month old daughter (clearly I have priorities).

The absolute first thing I always do fresh off the plane is make my husband or Dad take me to Cafe du Monde. I’m telling you here and now – there is nothing on this planet like cafe au lait and beignets. When I asked Little One if she was excited to try them for the first time all she said was “MMMMMM!” so I’ll take that as a yes.

Second, the music. Music anywhere of any kind. I love that I can stop and watch a Sax player in the French Quarter, catch a band at d.b.a. on Frenchmen or be lucky enough to see an impromptu performance at Jazz Fest.

3rd, the dessert. Normally I would say food in general (because good lord it’s amazing) but I can never wait long enough to take good photos of food when I’m there, so I have none. Whoops! I do however, usually have time to photograph my desserts and they are some of the best I’ve ever had.

PS: I did say I would blog a couple of recipe wins I had yesterday, so here they are ๐Ÿ™‚

Vanilla Pudding Chocolate Chip Cookies

Naked Chicken Club Salad

    • 2 Chicken Breasts, cut into two more pieces, leaving you with 4
    • 1 1/2 Cup Panko Bread Crumbs, divided
    • 1/4 Teaspoon Pepper
    • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
    • 2 Slices Bacon, Cooked and Crumbled
    • 1/2 Cup Shredded Monterey Jack Cheese
For the Avocado Salsa
  • 1 Avocado, chopped
  • 2 Roma Tomatoes, Chopped
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Olive Oil
  • 1 Pinch salt and Pepper
  • 1 Squirt Lemon Juice
  • Lettuce

  1. Divide the bread crumbs evenly between two dishes. Add the salt and pepper and mix to combine.
  2. Heat the oven to 350 degrees.
  3. Heat a nonstick skillet over medium high heat with a drizzle of olive oil (or use bacon grease from cooked bacon, this is what we used).
  4. Place each breast in the bread crumbs, pressing down to help the crumbs stick (only one side). Once the pan is hot and the oil is beginning to shimmer, add the chicken and immediately turn down to low. Allow the chicken to cook for about 4-6 minutes, and the bread crumbs have turned golden. Remove the chicken to a baking dish.
  5. Sprinkle with a little bit of the separated bread crumbs. Place in the oven to bake for about 12 minutes. Remove from the oven and add the bacon and then cheese. Place the chicken back in the oven until the cheese is melted and the chicken is cooked through, another 8-10 minutes.
  6. Meanwhile, combine the avocados, tomatoes, olive oil, lemon juice and season to taste.
  7. Place lettuce on a platter and once the meat is cooked, allow it to cool for a few minutes, place on the lettuce and top with the salsa. Enjoy!

Who Doesn’t Love Dessert?

One of the first things I started photographing was food, specifically baked goods that I made. I have always loved baking, and when I was a teenager my Mom & Gramma taught me what they knew. Sometimes I still call my Mom for advice in the midst of baking something complicated or new, covered in flour and holding my daughter, sounding exasperated. At the end of the day though, it was (and still is, but don’t tell my husband this) my first true love. Then I discovered Photography and the two meshed so well together, it was fate.

My first attempts at food styling were, at best, sub-par; but I’ve had a lot of fun experimenting over the years. Below are some photos of my all time favorite desserts. What’s your favorite dessert?

Awww, Babies!

I figured for my first blog post I’d lure you in with a couple cute, cute babies. I mean, what’s cuter than a teeny tiny brand new baby? Maybe other versions of babies, like kittens or puppies, but still – there is pretty much nothing sweeter than a sleepy, squishy newborn. I’ve had the extreme good luck to photograph these two handsome guys in the past month or so, and I hope to book as many of these sessions as possible in the future. It melts your heart to see the love between parents and a new baby, not to mention how totally snugly they are. I absolutely love shooting these sessions since they tend to be quiet and, obviously, adorable.

Now onto what you’re REALLY here for – a couple of Sneak Peek photos of Jackson & Isaac.
